I used to be a snowboarder, then when I started at Achieve Tahoe they recommended skiing for me. I originally didn’t want to switch, I only tried it because my family said they would try it if I tried it too. I loved it!

My first teacher was Karen, we had 3 lessons together. She told me to “look up,” so much I nick named her “Look Up.” Then she nick name me “Squirm” which is quite fitting because I am a squirm. It took me three days of working with Karen to go from, never skied before, to blues!

I don’t really like snowboarding now, I fall too much. In skiing I don’t fall that much but I do still fall some. If I couldn’t ski I would still snowboard because I love the snow so much.

This is my second year with Achieve and I probably have had 8 teachers in total. They are all really nice and awesome. I usually have two teachers when I go out. I wear a harness on the ski lift because I have vasovagal syncope which means I could faint.

This year I put a stuffed animal (a penguins) inside the pocket of my Achieve Tahoe sweatshirt. Snowy has gone out with me for every lesson.

I have never tried any of the summer actives but I really want to. I think they would be good since the winter ones are super awesome!

Please donate to help other people be able to learn to ski, kayak or do a bunch of other fun stuff!

Thanks,

Marin
