I have been volunteering as a lead instructor or as an assistant with Achieve Tahoe every year since the 2004-2005 winter. I joined them because every day is incredibly rewarding for me and for our guests. Achieve Tahoe has a reputation as a very effective and well managed organization. Now that I have been with them for 18 seasons, I know it is one of the best places to volunteer in California and a great experience for our guests of all ages, with any disability. Please support one of my favorite causes.

Achieve Tahoe is a nonprofit that builds health, confidence and independence through recreational sports for children and adults with disabilities. The organization serves over 500 people a year through one-on-one snowsports lessons, waterskiing, paddle sports and more. Achieve Tahoe's highly trained instructors and specialized, adaptive equipment allow the organization to serve just about anyone with any disability. Achieve Tahoe participants and family members often say that their experience with Achieve Tahoe goes on to affect other areas of their life such as gaining confidence to try other sports, becoming more social, and breaking down perceived barriers showing them that they can do things they perhaps never thought they could before.

"Forrest has had the opportunity to participate in a variety of Achieve Tahoe programs in Lake Tahoe: archery, horseback riding, paddle boarding, kayaking, jet skiing, tubing and snow skiing! The instructors and volunteers at Achieve Tahoe demonstrate the utmost respect, patience and understanding with their clients. Forrest always feels supported and comfortable learning from and interacting with the staff at Achieve Tahoe and he returns home feeling so proud of his accomplishments!
