For those of you who don't know, adaptive recreation is my passion, my life-long career, and my absolute joy in life. To watch lives changed everyday, is the most incredible gift. But the best part? YOU can be the one CHANGING those lives. The Ability Challenge is how we are able to scholarship over 20% of lessons for our participants. By helping me raise money for Achieve Tahoe, YOU are the one that is creating those opportunities.
I was teaching a girl last month who had taken many lessons with Achieve Tahoe in the past. She had been using equipment that helped assist her turns to the fullest extent, encouraging learning through feeling. And in ONE LESSON, it clicked and she graduated from each piece of equipment, until she was making her OWN TURNS! Mom and Dad were unbelievably excited, and called all their family from their home country. They then mentioned how she would not have been able to participate in programs like this, because of the caste system, and how incredibly grateful they were to see their daughter ski. It was a day of pure joy.
