Support adaptive recreation for individuals with disabilities!

Achieve Tahoe has not only transformed the life of our daughter, Charlotte, but has affected our entire family. Eleven years ago, we signed our daughter up for a lesson at the adaptive ski school at Alpine Meadows. I had skied all my life and we suspected that Charlotte would love to try the sport. Well, we weren't wrong! Not only did she enjoy her first lesson but she continued to flourish through a handful of snow storms that happened to miraculously move in and blanket the mountain whenever we arrived. In fact, it wasn't until her fifth or sixth session that the sun shined and she realized that she could enjoy the sport under a sparkling sunny sky.

After following Charlotte down the hill for a couple of years, I decided I wanted to contribute to this amazing organization, so I became a volunteer and soon after became a certified adaptive bi-ski instructor. Now not only do I get to ski with Charlotte but also help others enjoy skiing the beautiful mountains at Alpine Meadows. You can catch a glimpse of us racing by as they ski the entire mountain at top speed.

We have also become huge fans and supporters of Achieve Tahoe after experiencing the effects of the program on our family, but also on the many wounded soldiers that come through the program. The confidence these veterans receive when they realize that they can in fact go on with their lives after losing a limb or their ability to walk during war, is just magical.
