$2,235 towards $2,200

I'm volunteering again this year as an instructor with the Achieve Tahoe snowsports program at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort. As you would imagine, this experience has been beyond rewarding. The dedication, passion, mutual support, adventurous spirit and eagerness to accept new challenge -- from the staff, fellow volunteers, families and students, themselves -- have been both eye-opening and inspirational.

Since I started working with the program in 2013, I've had the privilege of skiing with a vet from Iraq who's in love with skiing, a 14-year-old boy with autism (see photo) who decided to give snowboarding a try after 4 years of skiing, and a number of other snow enthusiasts who are able to get out on the mountain because of the services offered by Achieve Tahoe (and their amazingly committed families and/or caretakers).

Like all non-profits, Achieve Tahoe relies on donor support to sustain its programs. Many of you supported me last year, for which I remain so very grateful. I'm hoping I can garner a $20 contribution from a lot of people (and reduce my guilt about asking you again this year!). I will be honored if you join Al and me in contributing to this life-enhancing cause as it enables children with disabilities, adults with extreme challenges and Iraq/Afghanistan wounded warriors to have another reason to live, to find a way to heal and to imagine a future full of possibility and, well, simply to have a fun day on the mountain.

On April 7, 2018, the winter program of Achieve Tahoe culminates in an all day festival at Alpine Meadows – the Ability Challenge - a crazy, fun, rewarding way to support this wonderful program with a variety of ski "challenges for all levels" and a terrific Après Ski party to celebrate the season. If you are interested in seeing the transformative effect our programs have on the lives of people with disabilities, please "join this cause" by clicking above. I can't express enough my admiration for this amazing program; I am so very grateful for your support!
Thank you! Susan.
