Jody's Story

Dear Family & Friends,

Thank you for checking out our 2018 Achieve Tahoe Ability Challenge page. Achieve Tahoe (A.T.) has provided Jody with one on one ski lessons for the past 5 years. With A.T.'s help, Jody has learned to load on an off the chair lift on his own and knows the difference between "pizza" and "french fries" while skiing. He can make turns and stop easily to avoid danger when skiing down the mountain. His skiing ability has dramatically improved in the 5 years he has skied with A.T. We know he will continue to improve with their help and soon you'll see him skiing along side you on the "Mountain Run". There's nothing he can't do now!

This year, the Achieve Tahoe Ability Challenge needs to raise $200,000 to keep the programs going that enable Jody to ski. The Ability Challenge is the primary fundraiser for A.T. Thanks to all of your support the past 5 years A.T. has continued to provide lessons to disabled children and adults, as well as disabled Veterans.

A.T. has the equipment on site for individuals needing assistance with standing, as well as bi-skis for those unable to stand. There are more than 200 volunteers who help get the students out on the hill every day. The cost to the families for a 2.5 hour private, one on one ski lesson is less than the price of a Adult Ski Lift Ticket. Equipment is often included, especially for those skiers that need the use of a bi-ski. A.T. is able to keep the costs affordable because of the enormous support of donors like you.

We hope you'll consider supporting Jody and our team by donating to the Ability Challenge this year, or even better… JOIN US ON APRIL 7th for the 2018 Achieve Tahoe Ability Challenge at Alpine Meadows. You'll be on our team and throughout the day will participate in the many fun Challenges on and off the hill (actual skiing encouraged, but not required). We'll even make sure you have a fantastic lunch! The day ends with an after party at the Alpine Meadows Lodge, which will include food, drinks and prizes. While your presence is encouraged, it's not required to make a donation and support Jody and A.T. If do want to join us for the skiing fun on April 7, let us know.

Thank you for showing an interest in our experience here, and for caring to keep this program flourishing. Learn more about us and check out some awesome photos and videos on Facebook (Achieve Tahoe). Or, participate in the challenge yourself. To sign up for the Challenge, email Haakon at haakon@achievetahoe.org and let him know you would like to be on the team "Skiing Jody".

Love,
Jody, Jacqueline, J. & Jessica
