Hello friends and family,

It is a privilege to have the opportunity this winter to be a volunteer ski instructor with Achieve Tahoe!

Achieve Tahoe is the proud founding chapter of Disabled Sports USA established in 1967, and is the longest operating adaptive sports program in the country.

1967, is probably the year of my first weekend skiing with my Dad. Long wooden skis, cable bindings, and safety straps that wrapped around the boots! Cool! I loved skiing from the first day! The beauty of the mountains, the fresh scent of pine trees, the sparkly snow and the amazing gift of freedom in gliding from top to bottom just thrilled me. I was so fortunate to have been bestowed this gift!

Over the years I hoped to share the gift of skiing with others. Some of you may recall our prior, (before children!), involvement years ago as volunteer instructors with an adaptive ski program while living in Colorado. The experience was inspiring and heartwarming and made a great impact upon me. It has always been a dream of mine to do so again. I am so excited and grateful to now have the ability to fulfill that dream upon my recent retirement!

Based in North Lake Tahoe . . . . Achieve Tahoe provides affordable, inclusive physical and recreational activities during both the winter and summer seasons, that builds health, confidence, independence and wellness for children, adults and military with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities.

Achieve Tahoe has continued its rehabilitation orientation and remains dedicated to the belief that sports are a vital part of the process in which individuals with disabilities gain self-confidence, mobility, and greater independence. Their programs promote education, socialization and employment. They help turn tragedy into triumph by instilling in participants the knowledge that it's not their disabilities, but their abilities that count.

Family Orientation Achieve Tahoe encourages the whole family to participate in many of their programs and activities.

I have been amazed by the program during my short encounter! Achieve Tahoe provides superior, comprehensive training to staff and volunteers in order to deliver the utmost quality experience for their participants. I cannot say enough about the passion, integrity and fidelity of the staff and how those qualities are reflected by their base of volunteers. No adaptive sports program works harder to provide more professional instruction for its students!

It is my hope you can join me in supporting this life changing, inspiring program. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and learn about Achieve Tahoe.

Best,

Linn
