$250 towards $2,000

The picture above is one my favorite guests. A high school student, he is blind and has severe autism. But as you can see, he loves to ski. A day with him always leaves me feeling the I've had the best day at Alpine Meadows.

I have been volunteering with Achieve Tahoe since the 2004-2005 season, and I have been a volunteer instructor since the 2010-2011 season. I joined them because every day is incredibly rewarding for me and my guest. And Achieve Tahoe had a reputation as a very effective, fun, and well-run organization. Now that I have been with them for 15 seasons, I can vouch that it's more than the truth. A great place to volunteer and a great place to visit for our guests. Please support one of my favorite causes.

Achieve Tahoe is a nonprofit that builds health, confidence and independence through recreational sports for children and adults with disabilities. The organization serves over 500 people a year through one-on-one snowsports lessons, waterskiing, paddle sports and more. Achieve Tahoe's highly trained instructors and specialized, adaptive equipment allow the organization to serve just about anyone with any disability. Achieve Tahoe participants and family members often say that their experience with Achieve Tahoe goes on to affect other areas of their life such as gaining confidence to try other sports, becoming more social, and breaking down perceived barriers showing them that they can do things they perhaps never thought they could before.

"My son, who has Spina Bifida, started in this program 6 years ago. The instructors and staff are encouraging and fun, yet challenge him to go beyond his perceived limits. He's now independent on his mono-ski but keeps up with his lessons as he loves the program and learns something new every time. This is an amazing life changing program!"

I have been volunteering as an instructor or as an assistant with Achieve Tahoe since 2004-2005 winter. I joined them because every day is incredibly rewarding for me and my guest. And Achieve Tahoe had a reputation as a very effectual organization. Now that I have been with them for 15 seasons, I can vouch that it's more than the truth. A great place to volunteer and a great place to visit for our guests. Please support one of my favorite causes.
