Jody's Story

Dear Family & Friends,

Thank you for checking out our 2019 Achieve Tahoe Ability Challenge page. Achieve Tahoe (A.T.) has provided Jody with one on one ski lessons for over 6 years. With A.T.'s help, Jody is now taking the Squaw Valley Tram and the Funitel to the top of the mountain. He is skiing full days and is constantly trying new areas of the mountain. He LOVES going to Tahoe and looks forward to our ski trips with giddy excitement. We know Achieve Tahoe will help Jody do more and more this ski season. We hope you'll consider helping us raise money to support Achieve Tahoe so they can continue to serve children and adults like Jody with physical and cognitive disabilities.

This year, the Achieve Tahoe Ability Challenge needs to raise $200,000 to keep the programs going that enable Jody to ski. The Ability Challenge is the primary fundraiser for A.T. Thanks to all of your support the past 6 years A.T. has continued to provide lessons to disabled children and adults, as well as disabled Veterans.

A.T. has the equipment on site for individuals needing assistance with standing, as well as bi-skis for those unable to stand. There are more than 200 volunteers who help get the students out on the hill every day. The cost to the families for a 2.5 hour private, one on one ski lesson is less than the price of a Adult Ski Lift Ticket. Equipment is often included, especially for those skiers that need the use of a bi-ski. A.T. is able to keep the costs affordable because of the enormous support of donors like you.

This year's Challenge takes place on Saturday, March 30 at Alpine Meadows. We will be working hard between now and then to get Jody on the mountain and raise awareness for this fantastic organization.

Thank you for showing an interest in our experience here, and for caring to keep this program flourishing. Learn more about us and check out some awesome photos and videos on Facebook (Achieve Tahoe). Visit the Achieve Tahoe program center at Alpine Meadows to get a behind-the-scenes tour of the incredible work they do or come ski with us this winter. Contact the Executive Director, Haakon Lang-Ree at haakon@achievetahoe.org to set up a tour or sign up for the Ability Challenge yourself. Thank you!

Love,
Jody, Jacqueline, J. & Jessica
