Please help me and Achieve Tahoe serve families like mine
We are no longer accepting donations on this campaign, but there are other ways for you to support us today!
I became interested in adaptive sports in the winter of 2017. My dad participated in a winter sports clinic for veterans with disabilities, and I tagged along to check it out. It didn't take long before I was hooked.
Over the last three seasons, my love for adaptive skiing has only grown. Every student and every family I meet gives me more motivation. More than that, they show me how much is possible. We all hold ourselves back in various aspects of life. My students teach me to keep an eye out for the ways I hold myself back, and to challenge myself to break through. After three seasons, I have now watched students who had never skied before build not only skiing ability but also self-confidence. Sometimes these progressions happen in a single day, and sometimes they become apparent over time.
Achieve Tahoe relies on fundraising to keep its services accessible to participants of all abilities and all levels of financial means. In my time with the program, we went from 1,900 ski lessons in 2018 to 2,400 lessons in 2019, and this year we are tracking to set yet another record. Your support allows this to happen.
Achieve Tahoe is a nonprofit that builds health, confidence and independence through recreational sports for children and adults with disabilities. The organization serves over 500 people a year through one-on-one snowsports lessons, waterskiing, paddle sports and more. Achieve Tahoe's highly trained instructors and specialized, adaptive equipment allow the organization to serve just about anyone with any disability. Achieve Tahoe participants and family members often say that their experience with Achieve Tahoe goes on to affect other areas of their life such as gaining confidence to try other sports, becoming more social, and breaking down perceived barriers showing them that they can do things they perhaps never thought they could before.
Join me in supporting this cause and provide life-changing experiences for children and adults with disabilities!
