Achieve Tahoe was founded in 1967 by a group of Vietnam Veterans with disabilities who taught themselves to snow ski post-injury and felt that other people with disabilities could benefit from an ongoing program. For over 50 years, Achieve Tahoe has been dedicated to building confidence, and independence in people with physical, sensory, and cognitive disabilities through outdoor recreation. Their programs include adaptive snow skiing/snowboarding, paddle sports, waterskiing, sailing, rock climbing, military camps for Veterans with disabilities, and more. Oftentimes, Achieve Tahoe participants say that the experience with the organization carries on into other areas of their life, leaving them with a stronger sense of confidence to do other things.
